About me
I am a second-year PhD student in the Linguistics program at the University of California, San Diego. My primary interests relate to semantics and discourse coherence. In particular, I am interesting in looking at how computational and probabilistic methods can be used to inform and supplement more theoretical approaches to the study of these areas. But I have also been known to dabble in documentary fieldwork. My adviser at UCSD is Andy Kehler.
I grew up in London, and earned my Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Bristol. After working as an actuary in New York City for a few years, I opted out of corporate life and moved to Northern California where I pursued a Masters degree in Linguistics at San Francisco State. And now here I am in Southern California, struggling to come to terms with the consistently sunny and dry San Diego weather.
