Research

I have focused on Arabic in my recent studies, including comparing production of Modern Standard and Egyptian Arabic alveolar fricatives in word list reading versus the completion of a partnered map task. I am currently looking into non-local Arabic emphasis spread (a.k.a. pharyngealization) and morpho-phonological analyses of Tigrinya broken plurals. The emphasis research will lead me towards an experiment looking at the perception of emphasis spread in different Arabic speaking populations: L2, heritage, non-heritage, and potentially non-speakers of Arabic.
