In July 2003 at the 15th
International Conference of Ethiopian Studies held in Hamburg, Germany,
researchers working on issues related to the Gurage and Silte* people of
Ethiopia met to discuss ways to better disseminate information and exchange
ideas. This website is the first step.
* The Silte people were considered East Gurage, but this
designation is no longer preferred by many Silte people
